motivation 1.0은 생물학적인 욕구, motivation 2.0은 19세기, 20세기에 구축되었던 당근과 채찍에 의한 것, 3.0은 인간 내부의 욕구에서 나오는 자발적인 것으로 정의하고 있다. 특히 2.0식에 대해서는 현대 한국사회 곳곳에 퍼져있고 그 폐해가 심각함에도 개선은 커녕 더 철저히 침투시키려는 움직임이 있어서 좀 우울해졌다. 기업 인사평가의 철저한 상대평가화, KAIST의 학점과 등록금을 연계시킨 것 등이 대표적인 얘라 할 수 있겠다.

3.0 부분을 어떻게 활성화 시키는가에 대해서 몇가지 기업 예를 들고 있는데, 당근과 채찍처럼 사회적으로 보급되기 위해서는 좀 더 고민이 필요한 것같다.
